Despite our shopping trip, I also managed to get some work done on Sunday.
Here are some examples of my tiles in China Blue.

The ‘Dream’ tile is 11cm / 16cm and costs R200

‘Wish’ is also 11cm / 16cm and also costs R200

‘a life lived in fear is a life half lived’ is 23cm / 21cm and costs R350

Darren and I went second hand shopping on Sunday (we almost didn’t tho because we thought it might be too much hassle with the tiny Noushe and the little Leith). Thank goodness we persevered because we scored BIG time.

Here are some pics of what we found (nothing cost more than R20 which is what I love so much about this kind of shopping).

This is my best item – it is a 1968 Fisher Price musical pony. He needed a bit of repair which I bravely undertook and now he lives again. I think the Bakelite bead which I found to complete the job rocks!

Here is the Micky we found. I don’t know his date of birth but I recon he is about 30 years old?

These are four out of the twelve Play Mobile figures we found – they are dated 1974 (Darren’s birth year). I dig their funky Buck Rogers attire.

Speaking of Buck Rogers, look what POPPED up…

It’s a 1994 reprint, but still, for 15 years old it is perfect.

I was delighted to find this bendable Buggs – I remember these from my childhood.

Look at this Fisher Price Camper extravaganza, complete with many people and a dog!

We were CHARMED by many other small creatures such as this wee monkey.

this metal horse (which seems to have rid himself of his cart).

and Mr Cool himself – Popeye (which I think must go to Danie or Alastair).

YAY Tomorrow is MARKET DAY

Well we are in for a treat of a weekend. Tonight is the Rift Reloaded party and tomorrow morning (maybe not so bright, but early) is the I HEART Durban Market. I have tried to be nerdily organised for this market – I have even bought paper bags.

So here are glimpses of goodies that will be sitting on my side of the table.

It seems that no matter how many sweeties I make there are just not enough.

So today I took a break and went down to the local scrapbooking shop to find a curved edge clipper for my labels. I found it, but I also found delicious papers and so, inspired, I created a new banner for our “I HEART Durban Market” stall. It is a physical banner but you can see the digital version below.
I then proceeded to waste the rest of the day by photographing my goodies on the lovely patterned paper.

I also think I spent more at the scrapbooking shop than I will earn at the market…sigh.

These are some of the little brooches (and pendants to come) that I have been making for the next I Heart Durban Market. They are moulded from the actual objects and are cast in coloured Jesmonite with brooch backs sunk into the reverse side for added strength. They are all sold on printed cards and make great small gifts. They are priced between R30 and R50 depending on size.

I have been making silicon moulds of small found objects pressed into clay. I then cast the pieces in Jesmonite and sink brooch clasps into the back. All of these brooches are R40 each.

Here are some images of the small icons I have been making. They are made out of a material called Jesmonite developed by a company called AMT. Jesmonite is an eco friendly alternative to resin.
